Grind Survivors
The Forge Guide

Master The Forge — Grind Survivors' weapon crafting system. Infuse, Improve, Reforge and Recycle explained with Ash costs, fail rates and Legendary strategies.

🔥 Why The Forge Matters

The Forge is the heart of Grind Survivors' progression loop. Accessed from the main menu between runs, it is where raw loot transforms into legendary firepower. Mastering The Forge is the difference between struggling at Difficulty 3 and dominating Difficulty 10.

The Forge is accessed from the main menu after every run. Understanding the four Forge systems is not optional if you want to progress past Difficulty 4 in Grind Survivors.

⚙️ The Four Forge Systems

🔗

Infuse

Input: 5 weapons of identical type → Output: 1 weapon of next rarity tier

Combine five weapons of the same type to forge a single weapon of higher rarity. The new weapon inherits randomized affixes drawn from all five source weapons, meaning careful selection of ingredients can bias the outcome toward desired stats.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Always Infuse weapons of the same rarity tier to guarantee a rarity upgrade
  • Stack source weapons with the same affix type to increase the probability of that affix appearing on the result
  • Never Infuse Legendary weapons — the cost exceeds the gain at that rarity tier
  • Infuse is the primary method of reaching Epic rarity; do not skip it in favor of Improve
⬆️

Improve

Spend Ash to level up an individual weapon, increasing its base damage and critical damage multiplier. Each level increases the risk of the weapon losing all progress — a genuine gamble mechanic that rewards bold players.

⚠️ Improve Fail Risk Table

Level Range Fail Chance Ash Cost
Level 1-3 5% 50-150 Ash
Level 4-6 15% 200-400 Ash
Level 7-9 30% 500-800 Ash
Level 10+ 50% 1000+ Ash

💡 Pro Tips

  • Only Improve weapons you plan to use in your primary build slot
  • Stop at level 6 on non-Legendary weapons — the 30% fail chance at 7+ is brutal
  • Use Legendary weapons for high-level Improve, as their base stats justify the risk
  • Farm extra Ash via Orfeo or Dodge Shrines before pushing beyond level 8
🎲

Reforge

Completely reroll a weapon's stats and affixes, replacing everything with newly randomized values. The cost increases with each successive Reforge on the same weapon. Use Reforge when a weapon has good rarity but poor affixes.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Reforge only after you have confirmed the weapon type and rarity are what you want
  • Set a budget — do not Reforge more than 3 times on the same weapon unless it is Legendary rarity
  • Reforge cannot change weapon type, only stats and affixes
  • After a successful Reforge, lock affixes you like before rolling again (if the UI allows in your current build)
♻️

Recycle

Dismantle weapons you no longer need to recover Ash. The Ash recovery rate scales with weapon rarity. Common weapons yield minimal Ash, while Epic and Legendary weapons return substantial amounts.

♻️ Recycle Ash Yield by Rarity

Common

10-20

Ash

Uncommon

30-60

Ash

Rare

80-150

Ash

Epic

200-350

Ash

Legendary

500-800

Ash

💡 Pro Tips

  • Recycle duplicates immediately — never hold more than 2 copies of the same weapon type
  • Recycle all Common and Uncommon weapons unless they have an exceptional affix you want to Infuse
  • During Ash farming runs with Orfeo, Recycle aggressively to maximize total Ash collected

🗺️ Forge Priority Roadmap

Follow this decision tree every time you visit The Forge:

  1. 01

Recycle all duplicate weapon types and any rarity below Rare that you have 2+ copies of.

  2. 02

Check if you have 5 weapons of the same type — if yes, Infuse them immediately.

  3. 03

Check your primary equipped weapon's level — if below 6 and it's Rare+, consider one Improve attempt.

  4. 04

If your primary weapon is Epic/Legendary with poor affixes, budget 1–2 Reforge attempts.

  5. 05

Spend remaining Ash on Rune upgrades — prioritize Snail → Bloodlust → Priest in early game.

  6. 06

Run again. Repeat until your primary weapon reaches Legendary.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Forge in Grind Survivors?
The Forge is the meta-progression crafting system, accessible from the main menu between runs. It has four functions: Infuse (combine 5 weapons to raise rarity), Improve (spend Ash to level up a weapon at increasing fail risk), Reforge (reroll a weapon's affixes), and Recycle (dismantle weapons for Ash).
What is the best Forge strategy for progression?
Follow this order: 1) Recycle all duplicate and low-value weapons immediately. 2) Infuse five Common weapons of the same type into one Uncommon, repeat up the chain. 3) Once you reach Rare or Epic rarity, begin Improving your primary weapon to Level 5–6 max. 4) Only Reforge Epic and Legendary weapons with poor affixes.
What happens if Improve fails in Grind Survivors?
When an Improve attempt fails, the weapon loses all accumulated Improve levels and reverts to its base rarity stats. The weapon itself is not destroyed — but all Ash invested in leveling it is gone.
How much Ash does it take to reach a Legendary weapon?
Infuse only costs the weapons themselves, not Ash. However, gathering the 125 Common weapons needed requires many runs. The real Ash cost comes from Improving and Reforging the Legendary weapon once obtained.
Should I Reforge or Infuse first?
Infuse first, always. Rarity is the primary stat multiplier. Reach Epic rarity through Infuse, then Reforge to fix poor affixes if needed.
What is the fastest way to get Legendary weapons in Grind Survivors?
Run Orfeo in Burned Forest at Difficulty 3 repeatedly. Infuse every weapon of your target type and recycle everything else. With consistent play, your first Legendary weapon typically arrives within 15–20 runs.
