General
What is Grind Survivors? ▾
Grind Survivors is an action roguelike bullet-hell developed by Ukrainian indie studio Pushka Studios and published by Assemble Entertainment. Released on Steam March 16, 2026, it combines manual twin-stick shooting with deep weapon crafting via The Forge system across three escalating biomes.
Is Grind Survivors free to play? ▾
No. Grind Survivors is a premium title priced at $12.99 on Steam. A free demo (App ID: 4332140) is available on the Steam store page. A Supporter Pack DLC is available separately for players who want to support the developers.
How many languages does Grind Survivors support? ▾
Grind Survivors supports 12 languages: English, German, Ukrainian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Spanish, French, Polish, and Traditional Chinese.
Does Grind Survivors have controller support? ▾
Yes — Grind Survivors supports full gamepad input on PC and is available on consoles where controller play is the default input method.
How long is a typical run? ▾
A standard run lasts 15–25 minutes depending on difficulty and player skill. High-difficulty runs can extend to 30+ minutes. Failed early runs typically end in 5–10 minutes.
Is there multiplayer in Grind Survivors? ▾
Grind Survivors is primarily a solo experience. Solo grinding in certain modes contributes to shared multiplayer XP pools according to community reports. The official Discord is active with cooperative strategy sharing.
The Forge
What is The Forge in Grind Survivors? ▾
The Forge is the meta-progression crafting system accessible from the main menu between runs. It has four functions: Infuse (combine 5 weapons to raise rarity), Improve (spend Ash to level up weapons at escalating fail risk), Reforge (reroll weapon affixes), and Recycle (dismantle weapons for Ash).
What is the best Forge strategy for new players? ▾
Follow this order: 1) Recycle all duplicate and low-value weapons immediately. 2) Infuse five same-type weapons whenever possible. 3) Improve primary weapons only to Level 6 max. 4) Reforge Epic/Legendary weapons with poor affixes only. 5) Spend remaining Ash on Snail and Bloodlust runes.
What happens when Improve fails? ▾
The weapon survives but loses all Improve progress, reverting to base rarity stats. The weapon itself is never deleted — only the Ash invested in failed levels is lost permanently.
How do I get Legendary weapons? ▾
Infuse five Epic weapons of the same type. To reach Epic, Infuse five Rare weapons. To reach Rare, Infuse five Uncommon weapons. Legendary weapons do not drop in-run — they must be crafted at The Forge exclusively.
Does Reforge change weapon type? ▾
No. Reforge only rerolls stat values and affix selection. Weapon type and rarity tier are unchanged by Reforging.
Characters
Which character should beginners pick? ▾
Vex or Orfeo are recommended for beginners. Vex's Cold passive keeps enemies manageable while learning movement. Orfeo's 25% Ash bonus accelerates Forge progression significantly.
Is Cascade good without Bounce affixes? ▾
No — Cascade's entire kit revolves around bounce mechanics. Without Bounce-affix weapons, her passive provides minimal value. Use Orfeo to farm Ash and Infuse toward a Bounce Revolver before switching to Cascade.
What makes Solara the hardest character? ▾
Solara's power comes from maintaining the Ascended trait through rapid ability cycling. This requires precise timing that feels unintuitive until you have 5+ hours in the game. Her ceiling is the highest, but her floor without proper timing is below average.
Can I change character mid-run? ▾
No. Character selection is locked at run start and cannot be changed mid-run. Complete or abandon the current run to switch characters.
Weapons
What is the best weapon in Grind Survivors? ▾
The Shotgun is the best all-purpose weapon due to multi-pellet proc mechanics. For end-game, the Legendary Revolver with Bounce + Crit affixes is the strongest single configuration. Tesla Gun excels specifically in Bloodlust rune builds with Solara.
How do weapon affixes work? ▾
Affixes are modifier properties attached to weapons that alter damage behavior. Higher rarity weapons carry more affixes simultaneously. Affix combinations — such as Bounce + Crit Chance + Lifesteal on a Revolver — create the powerful synergistic builds that define high-level Grind Survivors play.
Can I combine different weapon types at The Forge? ▾
No. The Forge's Infuse system requires five weapons of identical type. You cannot combine a Shotgun with a Revolver. Focus on collecting duplicates of your target weapon type.
What does the Bounce affix do? ▾
Bounce causes bullets to ricochet to nearby enemies after impact. Combined with Cascade's passive (+1 bounce without damage reduction), a Legendary Revolver with Bounce can clear entire screens from a single shot.
Biomes
How many biomes are in Grind Survivors? ▾
Three biomes at launch: Burned Forest (Difficulty 1–3), Scorched City (Difficulty 3–6), and Corrupted Lands (Difficulty 6–10). Each has unique enemies, boss, shrines, and environmental hazards.
What are Shrines? ▾
Shrines are interactive objects that spawn randomly on maps. Activating them grants temporary buffs: Dodge Shrines reduce dodge cooldown, Damage Shrines boost damage, XP Shrines increase experience, Reload Shrines speed reloads, Lifesteal Shrines grant bonus lifesteal. The Priest rune extends all shrine durations by 50%.
How do I beat The Devourer boss? ▾
The Devourer absorbs nearby lesser enemies to grow in size and damage. Clear all minor enemies before engaging to prevent it from scaling up. Kite it constantly — it cannot be tanked. A Legendary weapon with Lifesteal affix is recommended before attempting this boss.
Runes
What are Runes in Grind Survivors? ▾
Runes are permanent passive upgrades unlocked between runs using Ash. They provide bonuses that apply to every future run — they are never consumed. Runes stack with weapon affixes and character abilities to form the passive layer of all builds.
Which runes should I unlock first? ▾
Unlock in this order: Snail (15% enemy slow) → Bloodlust (lifesteal on kills) → Priest (shrine duration +50%) → Finisher (double Ash on low-HP kills) → Giant (40% max HP). These five runes are universally valuable regardless of character.
Can I reset rune investments? ▾
No rune respec system exists at launch. Rune upgrades are permanent. Prioritize universal runes before character-specific ones to avoid wasting Ash on runes that only benefit one playstyle.
